  I stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is located. You are basically paying for the view of the Bay, which is gorgeous.
  
  My family and I ate breakfast there on our last day. I got the pancakes. It was a stack of 3 cooked with frozen blueberries for $14. It was a bit undercooked, and the addition of the blueberries was not worth the $14. It didn't come with any other side dishes.
  
  My mom's croissant breakfast sandwich was worth it, as it also came with hash browns. My sister ordered a frittata, but it was really a scramble. (If you're rolling your eyes, I understand. But there is a difference between a frittata and a scramble). My dad's huevos rancheros looked good, but he didn't comment much on them.
  
  For breakfast at least, you get more with the savory dishes than the sweet ones.

  A GREAT disappointment. I'm local, and have taken my 3 houseguests to some of Monterey's great restaurants over the past week, saving the sunset at the Beach Cafe until the end. We arrived just before 6 and were asked if we had reservations... and there was not another person in the place. She said she expected a group of 30 in half an hour, which never arrived. Our waiter had an accent all of us had trouble understanding. The top line on the menu's very few choices was "..with lemon capper sauce"...and it got worse. Prices were at the top end, even for this area. We finally were served at 7:10 after I asked the hostess if there was a problem in the kitchen. One other table of 5 came in, were seated, looked at the menu and left. Only one other table was occupied when we left. The food was adequate...fish was dry, vegetables were luke warm...I could go on and on....so sad. The sunset was wonderful! I've been at the Beach for lunch with a group of friends several times during the past few months...and the noon menu and staff are wonderful. Lesson learned, sadly.

  We had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent! The hospitality was great and the service was excellent! Highly recommend it if you are in Seaside, CA.
